Hearing the party's discussion, the big crocagator begins to move ... but Davin, Alex, and Vangg quickly unleash on the monster with ranged fury! Davin's arrows cut through the water and into the thick hide of the beast; just as Alex's attack boils the water, and begins to cook the monster. Finally, Vangg's ray of divine light illuminates the Bog water.

Chopper Jr. Is. Dead.

50 XPs for the Minor Quest of tracking down and killing such a famous monster.

Finally, Alex manages to pull the Amulet of the Aqueus Templar from the water; it's engraven image resembling a crane standing watch over a nearby stream. Alex senses a connection with the amulet's magical power, and instantly recognizes some of it's power ... but ... the amulet has other power(s) that Alex cannot yet identify!

After several moments of examining the sacred symbol, Alex remembers his friends standing nearby. When the amulet moved, it disturbed some of the sand at the bottom of the pool; and Davin noticed a few other items down there seemed resistant to the corrosion of the swamp. Perhaps they too were magical?

Using "far hand" to pull those from the water as well, Alex unearths a pair of boots and a long spear.

Wavestrider Boots
These enchanted boots allow you to walk across liquid as if it were solid land.
Property: If you begin your turn standing on a solid surface, you can move across liquid as if it were normal terrain. If you are still on liquid at the end of your turn, you fall in.
Power (Daily): Minor Action. You can move across liquid surfaces as if they were normal terrain until the end of the encounter.

Davin flashes a smile for an instant upon returning with his arrows, seeing Alex has retrieved the amulet. "A link to your past, Waterbender. It would seem that your choice to join this quest has been fortuitous indeed."

I take a moment to inspect the boots and the spear. "It would seem that you have a new spear, Kardan, and a fine one, at that. Someone would benefit nicely from these boots, as well."

O.O.C. - It's a no-brainer that Alex and Kardan should get the amulet and spear. As far as the boots go, they are a really nice item, but imo, tactically, they would be wasted on me, considering I am a purely ranged character (I don't need to move across water to close with an enemy to do my thing). What do you guys think?

"The crocodile does not sit well with me it seems , do not venture into those bushes my companions , may Kord bring a storm to wash away that foul deed. Bah , you finished off the monster croc without me , thats some clean looking water...

Vanng waffs the air and smiles at Kardan, "Dat spear be fittin' fo' ye Kardan, hopeforth ye kin fork ah hag wi' it! Ors, ye kin delve it amidst ye own bowels an' save others o' da stench ye kin brew!"

The dwarf turns to the water mage, "An' me knoweth ye nots da selfish o' kind Alex, an' woulds want ye friends ta partake in dem fancy boots ... but me thinks ye should don both da garments o' ye kind. It be sads ta find dat some o' da tribe ye seek ... fell ta dat bedamned belly-slider. Mayhap hope be not los', mayhap more o' ye kin be nearby."

OOC: Just an opinion, up to everyone - they serve no purpose for a cleric. Would be cool to see a water mage running on top of water, heh. Will be more spoils ahead folks~~~

O.O.C. - Thematically, very cool if Alex wants them. Tactically, I think they would better serve Straegis or Kardan. Either choice is fine with me, and a good one!

Kardan see's the spear and his eyes light up , " Oh my , look at this craftmanship , its is a work of art" Kardan takes the spear and begins top perform several maneuvers , missing Vanngs head by inches (He truly did not see him) " Its perfectly balanced , this should serve me well.... Kardan continues practicing with the spear , missing Vanng once again.

Vangg steps back, laughing dramatically, "Bedamned spear-swingin' elfs! First ye disarms me nose w' da stench o' an hunder'd troll flatches, den ye nigh slit me bedamned lookers out me sockets! Ye should burn ye da frankincense beforth da trolls come runnin' fer ah good meal o' Kardan scat!"

The dwarf rubs his beard and smiles, "Mighty ah fine spear, sir. Me foresee its 'bedded in ah hag."

Vangg backs up some, "Me steps 'ere, me not forsee its 'bedded in me lookers, har!"

Straegis takes the boots, and tries them out; strutting around briefly on the water. Ayrikai examines the water, searching for the cause of it's crystal clarity; but he finds no obvious cause. Putting your heads together, you determine that the sand could be the reason, but it seems unlikely; more likely that something else is behind it. You're tempted to think that powerful magicks could be lingering in the pool, but then Ayrikai has a realization: maybe whatever cleaned off the bones cleans out the water, too? It could still be magic, but it might also be acidity, or even tiny flesh eating creatures. Ayrikai suggests that you all head back to the wagon, in case "tiny flesh eating creatures" can come out of the water.

O.O.C.: Car was broken, been workin on it for a couple days, problem fixed now !

After walking in a few short circles on the top of the water Straegis says, "I do not need these boots, tho walking on this water is a neat trick. If anyone of you feels you would like to have them, I prefer you take them."

Pausing for a moment he continues, "Alex perhaps it would be easier to find the water you need for your magics if you were standing on top of it."

It's tough to say; partially because you didn't handle the bones, and partially because they were strippec cleaned.

Considering the amulet, boots, and spear were found together, you think's there's a good chance they belonged to an Aqueas Templar ... whether or not those were his remains (after all, someone else might have acquired his gear, in some manner or another). ... remember, the Aqueas Templar were sworn to PROTECT the water benders, so a spear would not be out of place in one of their hands.

History: 22, Alex probably already knows this, but he refreshes his mind on Water Tribes in the area.

Very little is known, but it ancient times their culture was very similiar to that of Alex's homeland ... but a lot of time has passed, and it's impossible to know what changes may have happened since contact was lost.

Sorry, had to work. Was checking th boards every couple hours, waiting for posts about the boots, surges, and level-up ... the one day I check it early and go to work, there's half a dozen posts.

The party makes it back to the wagon, with little trouble. With the lone horse pulling the wagon, the party is forced to walk.

"T'is no much furtha," Agatha promises.

After a few miles, most of you are forced to wade through waist deep water (all of you except Alex, actually, since he has the boots on). The water is extremely dark and cloudy, and you're quite sure you'll have leeches to deal with when you get out.

Oh, and the bugs. The gnats and mosquitoes are just relentless.

What should have been a half-hour ride turns into a two hour walk ... but by lunch time, you see the cabin. It's a quaint little cabin, sitting in the middle of a shockingly grassy island (well, shockingly grassy considering it's in the Malbog).

Decide your plan and approach ...
