Jeremiah follows Gumphrey's lead and takes his axes against the enemy. The rubbery flesh is hard to penetrate, but Jeremiah manages to carve huge swaths of worm-flesh from the creature monstrous side.
- Three hits; two misses.

Init 9
Without warning, the barbed tongues pull Elodie into worm's gaping maw ... and with a GULP, it swallows her!
- CMB vs. Elodie's CMD = 38 vs. 22 (Monster Wims). Elodie suffers 21 bite damage plus 7 acid damage. She is now inside the worm (and still grappled).

Init 7
"Oh no!" Gumphrey cries out. "Elodie!" He stabs the massive creature with his dagger.
- Attack Rolls = 18 (Miss) & 18 (Miss)
- Take another 5' Step (if Jeremiah does the same, he can set-up a Flank)

Init 4
Elodie jabs at the beast's insides with her hand, attempting to cast a spell t ... but is unable to manipulate the magicks while so so held.
- Cast Finger of Death? Concentration Check to cast while Grappled = 41 vs. 47 (Fail)

With axes swings and worm flesh flying, Jeremiah carves the head from the beast! With a thud, it's long, cylindrical body collapses to the ground ... where it rest for a moment, before the weight of it's tail starts to drag the whole carcass over the cliff.

"Elodie!" Gumphrey shouts, as he jams his hands into the monster's gaping esophagus. "Grab my hand! Quickly!"

Init 4
OOC: Posting for Elodie, since her action here is pretty obvious.

Taking Gumphrey's hand, Elodie crawls from the belly of the beast, covered in all manner of horrific ichor.

End Combat

The body of the monstrous worm slides off the trail and tumbles down the side of the mountain.

On the way up, Jeremiah noticed a rocky crevasse hidden behind some bushes. It wasn't too far back and very likely could have been cave. Gumphrey seems very concerned about recent developments, but follows along. Before long, Jeremiah finds the cleft cliff-face and climbs through the bushes blocking it from the trail. Peering inside, he finds a cozy hollow just big enough for three people and a fire.

Elodie recalls several tiny cascades, trickling down the mountainside, probably as a result of snowmelt further up the mountain. It shouldn't take long to relocate one.

As the group stumbles toward the cave, Elodie will take a few moments to clean herself off in one of the small trickles of water. Then, she will help Jeremiah gather supplies for the evening.

Gumphrey nods and sits as close to the cave mouth as he can. Occasionally, he turns his head to peer out through the bushes, making sure noone (or nothing) is coming.

- OOC: Elodie, I assume you're going to heal yourself and everyone else?

Once everyone is safely tucked away inside of the cave, Elodie pulls out the healing wand and begins doling out health to the party.

Use Wand of Cure Serious Wounds.
OOC: The wand cures 3d8+7 HP, roll however many times you need to be back to to full and let me know how many charges to subtract from my character sheet, Alpha. Same for Gumphrey, Mal.

Elodie uses 4 charges.

Elodie is ready, too.

So, after everyone is healed and rested, the Band of Four leaves the tiny cave and cautiously proceeds up the trail. Along the way, you spot more gigantic worms ahead of you, but they are too far away to notice you ... and by the time you round the bend, they are gone. Still, you continue on, as cautiously as ever.

They entire journey takes most of the day, so by the time you reach the end of the path, it is already dusk. The path itself ends in a relatively flat plateau, with the actual peak looming overhead. All around the perimeter of the stony plateau, there are sharp jagged rocks, almost as if the original top of the mountain had been broken off.

Between you and the looming crag, there is a wide pool of rain water, surrounded by massive round boulders. The sun lies at the horizon, silhouetting Mount Toweridge to the west of it; while the moon is just beginning to climb from the east, illuminating the Arkonian Steppes which seem to stretch out forever. This may be the clearest view of flat land you have ever seen.

The party stands there, silently, for a few moments.

Then, all of a sudden, the water rises up as an enormous bronze colored dragon emerges from the pool. You hear the familiar sucking of air as the dragon prepares to exhale its dangerous breath weapon. But then ...

"GUMPHREY?! JEREMIAH?! ELODIE?!"

Gumphrey responds first. "Hey, Miph!"

You are amazed at how much Miphelgara has grown since you last saw him. He's must be seven or eight times the size he was, last time you saw him.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU GUYS? WE THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD."

"I'll let one of these two explain that," Gumphrey says.

"A DAY, YOU SAY?" Miphelgara stammers. "MITTENS SAID TIME WOULD PASS DIFFERENTLY FOR YOU, BUT I HAD NO IDEA IT WOULD BE SO DRASTIC. SPEAKING OF MITTENS (AND ODION AND MALABUS), I HAVE SOME BAD NEWS. THEY HAVE BEEN CAPTURED. THEY ARE BEING HELD AT THE OLD PALACE OF THE VICEREINE, WHERE THE COURTYARD ONCE STOOD. I CAN TAKE YOU THERE, BUT IT WILL BE DANGEROUS."

"That's exactly why we came to look for you. We believe that the wizards can fix this, but we need help getting to them. We don't know much about the new monsters in this world, only that one of those worms tried to digest me. Jeremiah and Gumphrey managed to chop it up, though. "

"YOU CAN COUNT ON ME," he says. "THE JOURNEY WILL BE MUCH FASTER IF YOU ALLOW ME TO CARRY YOU."

"Carry us?" Gumphrey asks.

"YES." Miphelgara extends a massive talon, which Gumphrey stares at for a minute before walking onto.

"I guess you're with me, Elodie," the Dwarf says, "since Jeremiah is bigger than either of us."

Miphelgara extends his other talon toward Jeremiah.
